Register, and your callout goes on the board. Another athlete takes the match, you both confirm, and the organizer co-signs it. The purse starts at both entries and anyone can add to it.

Quintet — team grappling
Two teams of five. One athlete from each team starts. The winner stays on and faces the next athlete from the opposing team. A team wins when every athlete on the other side has been eliminated.
One grappler can take out an entire team.
Winning a match
Submission only. There are no points, there are no advantages, and there is no decision. You submit your opponent or you survive.
The draw rule
If the time limit expires with no submission, both athletes are eliminated.
This is the heart of the format. A draw costs your team a body as surely as a loss does, so there is no such thing as running out the clock to stay on the mat — stalling burns your own side down.
Time limits
| Situation | Limit |
|---|---|
| Standard match | 8 minutes |
| Weight disparity over 44 lbs (20 kg) | 4 minutes |
Teams
- Five athletes per team, plus the running order declared before the match.
- Any belt, any size — Quintet is a combined-weight format, not a per-athlete
weight class. Teams may be built however they like within the combined limit the event publishes.
- The running order is submitted at registration and locked at weigh-in.
If both teams are eliminated
The team with the most submission victories takes it. If those are also level, the two captains face each other in a deciding match with no time limit.
House rule for this event, not a universal Quintet rule.
Legal and illegal
Standard submission grappling. Heel hooks and knee reaping are permitted for adult divisions. No striking, no slamming, no small-joint manipulation, no fingers in the sleeve or pant cuff, and no gouging of any kind.
Any technique the referee judges to be applied with intent to injure rather than to submit ends the match immediately in favour of the opponent.
The heel hook allowance is a house call for this event; confirm before the teams build their orders around it.
Gi or no-gi
Declared per event. See the division listing on the event page.
