Quintet — team grappling
Two teams of five. One athlete from each team starts. The winner stays on and faces the next athlete from the opposing team. A team wins when every athlete on the other side has been eliminated. One grappler can take out an entire team.
Building a team
- Five athletes, entered in running order. Position 1 goes out first. The captain enters the team and pays the buy-in; the running order can be edited until registration closes and is locked at weigh-ins.
- Men's teams: combined weight 948 lbs (430 kg) or under. Women's teams: combined weight 617 lbs (280 kg) or under. There is no individual weight limit.
- Every athlete weighs in before the team's first match. A team over its cap sits its heaviest athletes until it is under.
- No age gate. Athletes under 18 need a parent or guardian's signed waiver at check-in.
- Uniform: rashguard and shorts, no zippers, buttons or pockets. Gi pants are allowed but may not be grabbed.
Matches
- 8 minutes, submission only. No points, no advantages, no decisions.
- If two opponents differ by 44 lbs (20 kg) or more on a men's team, or 15 lbs (7 kg) or more on a women's team, the match is 4 minutes.
- A draw eliminates both athletes. Stalling costs your team a body as surely as a loss does. Referees will warn for stalling; repeated stalling is a disqualification of that athlete.
- Coaching is allowed from the designated corner only.

- Also always illegal: spiking on the head or neck, small-joint manipulation, striking, eye gouging, hair pulling, biting. Aoki locks are treated as heel hooks.
- Flying submissions (blue and up) are at the athlete's own risk: the opponent has no duty to prevent a slam.
- When athletes of different ranks meet, the lower rank's allowances apply to both.
If both teams are wiped out
Organizer's call. If the last two athletes draw and both teams are out at the same time, each team names one athlete for a single 4-minute sudden-death match under the same rules. If that match also draws, the lighter team wins.
